RSI Checklist for Moving

4 TO 6 WEEKS BEFORE THE MOVE

• Inventory everything and decide what to move
• Have a garage sale, donate to charity, or otherwise dispose of everything else
• Arrange to close out local accounts such as department stores charge cards
• Gather personal records: medical, dental, school, legal, financial
• Discontinue the following:
• Newspaper
• Water service
• Gas & Electric
• Cable TV
• Telephone
• Address Change:
  • Post Office
  • Subscriptions
    Credit cards
  • Social Security
  • Friends and relatives
  • DMV: Driver's License and Registration
  • Loans such as car payments, timeshares, etc.
• Finances:
  • Close out bank accounts
  • Open new bank accounts at destination
  • Get traveler's checks and cash

1 TO 2 WEEKS BEFORE THE MOVE

• Defrost refrigerator and freezer
• Drain fuel and oil from motorized equipment usch as lawn mowers
• Dispose of flammable goods such as paint
• Gather items that you will take with you:
  • Cash
  • Jewelry
  • Personal records

MOVING DAY

• Allot at least one large area in which packers can work
• Walk through and double-check closets, cabinets
• Leave keys with realtor or neighbor
